Should I go to therapy?
Should I go to therapy?
First of all and being very direct: you don’t need a big reason to start psychotherapy!!! At the same time, therapy is a process of self-knowledge that helps people make decisions that best fit their personality and ways of thinking: Example – which course to take in college.
Thus, in this self-knowledge, are found the reasons for emotional and distressing: Example – what led to depression.
In this way, it strengthens and prepares the person to face difficult moments in the future: Example – moving to another country, changing school, etc.
Therefore, any reason is valid to seek psychological help. You don’t lose anything by increasing what you already know about yourself. Sunzi, Chinese general said:
“…. to be invincible means to know yourself”
Not wrong.
In such a way, without self-knowledge we cannot overcome our enemies (which we can understand here as the problems of life, the difficulties that come to all of us). Finally, therapy is where the deepest self-knowledge is found.
Of course, there are other reasons to go to therapy:
- A difficulty processing something in life, or in that period of life.
- Getting irritated easily,
- Impaired sleep,
- Impaired nutrition,
- Impaired concentration,
- Feeling lost or paralyzed,
- Attitudes that get in the way of your life and relationships,
- Or yet, support to face an illness.
Anyway, a variety of reasons, and there would be no sufficient page that could elicit all.
According to this, let’s say we are experiencing knee pain that doesn’t go away, days go by and it’s still there. In that sense, is it worth going to the doctor to get checked out? Yes!
As a result, the same is with a psychology professional.
In conclusion, sometimes in life, we all have something that bothers us and it doesn’t hurt to check with a psychotherapist.
